The art of simplicity by Dominique Loreau

Dominique Loreau lives in Japan. In that country she discovered how to live simply, with just a few beautiful things...How to eat simply, to give food to one's body, not filling it with anything...How to dress, make up or not...Find one's way...Simplify one's life...
You just need one or two cases to travel towards "Beyond the fields" ...Have your head and soul full of beauty, poetry...Learn to look at things, take care of your soul and body instead of worrying about power and gadgets...
and read Haïkus:
"During Spring in my cabin
Absolutely nothing,
Absolutely everything."
(Kobayashi Issa)

I went to Goa many years ago and lived in simplicity for 5 weeks. I didn't even bring clothes with me as I'd been (well) advised to buy them when I got there...
... Then I went back to London and all my clutter...
The only things in life I'd really like to keep are the photographs, the letters, the ideas... everything else we can replace...

Another thought provoking posting Mousie....
About 10 years ago I gave away eveything I owned except the absolute necessities. It is wonderful! I have all I need and I no longer NEED to accumulate things. One of the things I hadnt considered was the amount of time we spend worrying about losing our possessions. With a simple life you have few possessions ... there is little to lose. The main thing I fear is the temptation to "Accumulate" again. Now I have space for a bunch of wild flowers and place to put my book and pencil.
Thank you Mousie

I am googling Dominique Loreau at the moment and trying to find her books in English. Do they exist, or only in French? Also, have you any idea how to contact the author?

thank you,
L

My wife bought the Art of Simplicity in french. Very impressed. We are of course partly moving in that direction with ikebana, bonsai and my collection of dwarf conifers.
When diagnosed with heart condition I focused on meditation, exercise and nutrition.

A friend of mine, woman psychologist from Poland recommended book entitled in Polish "Sztuka Prostoty" which is "Art of Simplicity" by Dominiqe Loreau. I live in US where, unfortunately, this book is not available, so she was kind enough to send me her own copy in Polish. I truly enjoy reading it with my girfriend and deep inside hope that soon my girlfriend's house will triple in size without any construction. This book would be very beneficial for those who spent weekends at the Shopping Malls.
