Kro-Kro
that's the call of the crested tern
the gray one
the shaggy-haired one
the one who keeps always to the edge
the tidal sand
never going inland
approach him
he'll give you a wary glance
out of the corner of his eye
then wing away powerfully
over the sea
with that harsh, wild
kro!

my parents like looking at birds and are members of the RSPB. Dilly enjoys them because of the dinosaur connections. She says all birds are dragony. (or "Wagony" as she would say it).
I like this poem. It makes him sound a bit mischiefy.
